Peaceful Beginnings started 1st January 2018

I asked Kimberley Crisp to be the first person to LIKE page.

I started Peacefu Beginnings because I wanted something that I wished I had as a mother. Becoming a mother had not come easy to me, and my journey over the last seven years has highlighted to me why and WHY it wasn't my fault. I knew that mums and dads had the power of societal change if they knew what children really needed.

So much of the work that I was doing with Peaceful Beginnings was supporting the healthy development of secure attachments

From the journeys that we have had that is not always easy. As Donna Berry says, you can't give what you didn't have. And with the attachment style comes subconscious programming. Its fascinating when you look below the surface level.

As often happens in my life, Marg walked into my life when I was teaching in Drury, the same place where I held my first classes. We had a shared vision, and we supported each other through series 1-5, growing together as each new mum weaved with us in not only their growth BUT ours

Understanding the Nervous system and how we can work with it in our parenting and teaching not against it. Sometimes this is the first place you have to look and I have found understanding it and what happens in our bodies is key to change.

The Idea for the PlaySpace

Because of everything that we were loading into our cars every week we decided to move Peaceful Beginnings from Drury to Pukekohe

Series 5 we found a new location and we quickly realised that the environment plays a HUGE role in what we were trying to achieve. We looked and we looked and we couldn't find what we needed. So I asked Sam (my husband) if we could create a studio in our garage. And my amazing husband said YES. As he always does and knew creating the perfect space was important to me.

Session 1 Circle of Security

May people are put off when I say that Circle of Security is a 7 week course. So I thought I would use this goodbye weekend to introduce you to what I present on the first night. Why would you commit 7 weeks of your life if you don't understand the importance and WHY....... Let me guide you to open that door.

While we were waiting for the PlaySpace to be built, we took Peaceful Beginnings into the Bush

AND we ALL LOVED it !

I think this term, when we went into the bush, was one of my favourite times. It was only a term but is was so incredible. The infants went to the Meadow and so many dreamy days of JUST BEing. and the toddlers charged out into the Bush. some of my happiest moments.

The power of the subconscious on parenting and teaching

This is a new course that I am developing and will get its first airing here. So much of our interactions are actually driven by our subconscious. Only 5% of interactions are conscious with the remaining 95% being what was programmed into us on our journey of life. Hear why the first 2 years are crucial to development and how so much of what is programmed into us happens in the first 6-7 years of life. Then, understand the balanced between core wounds and your needs

Back to teaching, as financially I just couldn't make Peaceful Beginnings work

BUT so much happened here that advanced Peaceful Beginnings

With going back to teaching, I started to look at the NEEDS of the adults supporting the children. I had already started to see this in the Toddler classes and why I found Circle of Security BUT I saw even more as I just noticed the dynamics of team work. what worked and what didn't. I was also able to introduce Peaceful Beginnings in tandem to an early childhood centre. this was my dream bringing parents and closer teachers together and breaking down divides and instead placing the child at the heart of the matter.

Peaceful Beginnings called me back again

2023-2024 after I returned from Egypt I got called to Sharda and the amazing Shafia who became my guide for the year. The learning journey for me was huge this year, as I weaved different philosophies together and I got to experiment in this space with the MOST AMAZING mums. This was the first I got to experiment combining my knowledge of Pikler with my new learning from Donna Berry's Interplay.

An interactive session to bring your questions and ideas. I will have a backup powerpoint but a time for us to think together with your dilemmas. We are all weaving together. My friend Karen laughs and calls me SPIDERWOMAN. Let me show you how I weave my ideas together to support children

Sometimes you don't expect change and then it happens. It can feel scary and strange and at the same time you know that you need to take the chance to see if it will work. And that is what I feel with both of these lady's work. They explain so much of what I saw with Peaceful Beginnings HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT. And now I need to take the courage to continue my weaving. Last year I went on a sound journey at Sharda. I was never expecting to come back with it with my new mantra that I have used since May 2024. IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE CHILDREN. and with that in my heart that is what I am walking into the future whatever that means
